Totem of Togetherness
Hans Kalliwoda is an art/science and intervention artist. In this theatrical act, Kalliwoda questions whether we as humanity are moving in the right direction with hyper-individualism when compared to swarm intelligence. What can we learn from that kind of intelligence? By collecting and exhibiting DNA, Kalliwoda, in collaboration with the “party-cipating” humans, playfully demonstrates that unity and cooperation are desirable for the survival of the human species. The Totem of Togetherness is a social sculpture, a conversation piece and invitation for action.
As co-director of the TUDelft Urban Ecology and Ecocities Lab, he is currently initiating a European consortium of academics and specialists and will tell us about his challenge to implement innovative methodologies to restructure cities into temporary nature reserves for wild pollinators to avoid extinction.
